With classmate Amy Carmichael being treated in Yorkhill hospital, kind-hearted Robert Dickson knew he wanted to do something to help. Together with his Mum, the Newfield Primary pupil came up with the idea of giving the money he would normally spend on Christmas cards to charity.
At just four years old, Imogen, with the help of her mum Shona have raised an incredible £1,075 for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation. Yorkhill Hospital is a place that is incredibly close to the family’s hearts. In 2010 and at just 21 months old, Imogen was diagnosed with a disclosed hip.
Little Mason battled a series of serious health issues at just a few days old including four holes in his heart, a narrowing of his aorta, a split sternum problems with his spine and shoulder, and only one kidney.
In May 2007 Kimberley was born with Spina Bifida. It was a complete shock to the family as they didn’t know anything about the condition and there were no signs of it leading up to the birth. One month after Kimberley was diagnosed her older brother Euan started to become seriously ill and he was quickly admitted to Yorkhill Hospital too.
Aarron appeared to be a happy healthy wee boy but during the routine discharge from the maternity ward one of the Junior Consultants commented that he thought Aarron had an irregular sounding heartbeat and very quickly Aarron was transferred to Yorkhill Intensive Care Unit.
Craig Duncan was born with a heart defect so life threatening and complicated his mother told him to give up but today he is a happy, healthy young boy!
His devastated parents Natalie and Christopher were told there was no hope for their tiny son.
